Bereavement Volunteers, following training provide one to one support for anyone following a death of a relative, friend, colleague.
This is mainly by phone and video-conference with some in person support.
Cruse is the largest organisation of its kind in the world.
Our purpose is to offer support, advice and information to adults when someone dies and to enhance society’s care of bereaved people.
Cruse provides direct support services for clients; information, publications, education, training and resources, training and development for volunteers so they can deliver these services effectively.
Bereavement Volunteers help facilitate the emotional, cognitive and behavioural tasks of grief in bereaved clients by their knowledge, their non-judgemental attitudes and their counselling skills. Bereavement Volunteers understand human development, cultural issues, practical support and family dynamics, particularly in relationship to grief.
Bereavement Volunteers have the ability to form a working relationship with their clients and negotiate an agreement, which will be regularly reviewed. They will be able to work under supervision and be able to differentiate their own needs from those of their clients.
If you feel that this is something you can you, contact us.
