Assist running a Youth Club for ages 10-14. Sessions often include arts and crafts, games and skills building. Volunteers will assist in delivering activities over a 2 hour, evening Youth Club Session.
Ventnor Town Council have been running a Youth Club for over six years – but as a result of the Covid pandemic, decided to temporarily close the Youth Club. Previously, VYC were running activities on four-nights a week – Upper Ventnor Youth Club at St. Margaret’s Hall on Mondays, Youth Club at Salisbury Gardens on Tuesday, a group for older young people on Wednesdays at Salisbury Gardens and cookery on Thursdays. We have re-opened the Youth Club and activities, on a limited basis of one night so far, and are looking for volunteers to help us: so we can open up, on more evenings and engage with more children!
If you are interested in youth work and are willing to undergo a DBS check – please contact Jordan Royl on jordan@ventnortowncouncil.org.uk or call 07743943384 for an informal discussion and more information.
Volunteers are encouraged to discuss with
me any ideas or sessional input, that they would like to share with the
children and the program, to enrich all out experiences and fun!
Skills
A
good conservationist with good listening skills - there are lots of
personalities to meet at the Youth club. A stuck in attitude and the willingness to
have fun. If you can offer any knowledge of sports and rules that would be
brilliant to encourage children to engage in new activities and being active –
we try out hand at Sports and games but our sessional leaders aren’t Sports
women per se, so many of our activities are based on Arts and Craft and Science
based or creative.
