The Solent Seascape Project is a innovative collaborative restoration project aimed at restoring seagrass, saltmarsh, native oyster reefs and coastal bird habitats.
This role involves participating and assisting with intertidal surveys along the Solent coastline. You’ll help by gathering data to support conservation efforts, as well as learning hands on knowledge about the species and habitats you encounter.
You will also be able to advise others on what citizen science is available in their area and what might suit their needs. There will also be opportunities to help sort and submit data for the citizen science activities we carry out.
Skills
No specific skills required however, surveying, will entail working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, but no extreme weather.
The sites we survey are often remote and require walking to reach them. The ground is unstable, rocky and liable to be slippery. It requires a level of fitness, balance and mobility to navigate safely. Please take this into consideration and ask our staff whether the survey would be suitable for you.
The data processing and submission part of this role can be done from our office or your home.
