Vectis Radio is pleased to announce their very first Isle of Wight Community Awards. Taking place
on Friday 31st March, the Community Radio Station is offering a chance for all island-based
community organisations and charities to be publicly recognised for the valuable work that they do
in our community.
Station Manager, Ian Mac, said, “Vectis Radio has been working in the community for over 12 years
now and we felt it was time to do something extra for the community. We are excited to announce
these awards for 2023 and we invite all community organisations to apply.”
The awards are open to any charity, individual or community (non-profit) organisation based on the Isle of Wight and are split into several categories:
Community Project of the Year
New Community Project/Organisation Of The Year
Island Based International Project/Organisation Of The Year
Animal Focused Community Project/Organisation Of The Year
People Focused Community Project/Organisation Of The Year
Charity Fundraiser Of The Year (over 18)
Young Charity Fundraiser Of The Year (under 18)
Volunteer Of The Year (over 18)
Young Volunteer Of The Year (under 18)
The event, to be held at The Riverside Centre at the end of March 2023, will be specifically aimed
at these organisations.
Event organiser Maggie Currie said, “Community organisations don’t have
much money to spare so we wanted to hold an evening event that would fit the pockets of those
who would like to come along and celebrate the Isle of Wight Community without breaking the
bank. For that reason, the entries to the categories are free and event tickets are being kept to
£10.”
