Team Parklands needs you!

29 April 2024

A new service Alzheimer Café @ Parklands is soon to open in Cowes, bringing much needed expert advice and support to families living with Dementia.

As we get ever closer to opening the doors of our community cafe, we have had a fantastic response from volunteers wishing to support in several roles previously advertised but we are still actively seeking to welcome others who would have an interest in supporting our Weekly Wellbeing Club which will open its doors in May.

If you would like to support people living with dementia to engage in fun and meaningful activity whilst enabling relatives and carers much needed respite, this could be the role for you.

We will be opening every weekday 09.30 – 16.30hrs.

Perhaps you have a special talent or skill that you could teach or demonstrate or an interesting hobby that you could come to talk about and share with our visitors. Perhaps you have an affiliation with talking to people about their life story and want to help people reminiscence.

Could you spare some time to sit and play an instrument or a board game?

Do you knit, draw, bake, sing, play sports, build or simply like chatting to people?

Do you have any equipment, instruments, tools that you could loan or donate for others to enjoy?

We will provide full training and support for people who may have limited experience communicating with people living with dementia and no matter how little time you can offer…. we would love to hear from you!

Please contact Donna at parklands@alzheimercafeiow.org.uk or Telephone 01983 220200 for more information.

We would happily facilitate a visit to show you around and discuss further our vision for this project moving forward.
