Scouts Seek Finance Volunteers

29 April 2024

Isle of Wight Scouts, the largest voluntary sector provider of activities for young people on the Isle of Wight, is seeking volunteers who can assist with managing the organisations’ finances.

The roles available are:

  •  County Treasurer – a member of the Trustee Board
  •  Assistant County Treasurers – one for Corf Scout Campsite and one to support Scout Groups and Units across the Island
  •  Independent Examiners – an annual task to review accounts

Andy Hollebon, Chair of the Trustee Board at Isle of Wight Scouts, said: “Like all charities our Trustees have a responsibility to ensure that our finances are well managed.  We’re seeking individuals who have a bit of spare time and are keen to support Scouting to help young people across the Island develop and progress towards taking their place as citizens in our society.  Scout finance is not difficult but it does help if you can use a calculator and a run a spreadsheet!”

You don’t need to have had any previous involvement in Scouting and these are non-uniformed roles. Full training and support will be provided.  You do however need to be supportive of Scouting values:

  • Integrity: We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
  • Respect:We have self-respect and respect for others.
  • Care:We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
  • Belief:We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
  • Co-operation:We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.
