VOLUNTEER NEEDED – NORTH EAST ISLE OF WIGHT
Independent visitor for a young person in care.
An independent visitor (IV) is a volunteer who has been trained and vetted by us to befriend a child in care. Our aim is for the child and adult volunteers to become long-term friends and meet up once a month (expenses reimbursed by us). As the young people are in school, the visits are usually at the weekends.
Children in care often lead chaotic lives – being moved to different foster carers or changing school frequently – and having a friend who is consistent and stable can mean so much.
It is a hugely rewarding process and we know there are many people out there who want to make a difference to society – this is a chance to get involved in the community and really help!
