Supporting local families on the Isle of Wight

11 August 2026

Home-Start Isle of Wight is currently recruiting for its next volunteer preparation course, beginning on 15 September 2026.

The course combines flexible online learning with a series of friendly, in-person training sessions in Newport once a week, designed to help volunteers feel confident and supported in their new role.

You don’t need any special qualifications or experience to become a Home-Start volunteer. The training will help you understand the role, develop new skills, and learn about the support available every step of the way. Many of our volunteers tell us they had been thinking about volunteering for some time before taking the first step. By giving just a few hours each week, Home-Start volunteers provide practical and emotional support to local families who may be facing challenges such as isolation, poor mental health, or the pressures of raising young children without a support network.

If you’ve ever considered volunteering and would like to find out more, we’d love to hear from you. There is no pressure and no obligation, just an informal conversation about what’s involved and whether it might be right for you.

To apply, please download and complete an application form on our website, and a member of the team will be in touch to guide you through the next steps.

Not quite ready to apply? You can find out more by completing our expression of interest form, emailing admin@homestartiow.org, or calling 01983 533357.
