Wolly the Wessex Cancer Support Mascot

We are looking for a volunteer to be the ‘face’ of our charity as our Charity Mascot ‘Wolly’! As a volunteer mascot you will be representing Wessex Cancer Support dressed in a rainbow lion costume.

As Wolly, you will be interacting with members of the public at scheduled events, press appearances, charity events and sometimes filming. Wolly loves to have photos taken with people, including children d families.

This is a rewarding and important role as it not only raises essential funds but, raises awareness of what we do at Wessex Cancer Support and in turn makes a huge difference to the clients we’re able to support.

Although appearances tend to be seasonal, we do occasionally have events during the winter months.

Skills

• Minimum Age – 18 years • Undertake an enhanced DBS check with barring check

• Able to work well with people of all ages

• Reliable, committed and dependable • Able to engage people of all ages

• Happy to have photos taken as Wolly the mascot

• Be able to be in the ‘Wolly’ costume and stay in character for periods of around 30 minutes at a time either standing, sitting, dancing, waving and walking. Often events will be busy.

• Be committed to abiding by our safeguarding policies and procedures

• Have excellent ‘non-verbal’ communication skills and outgoing personality

• Be available for occasional midweek / weekend community event visits.

• Have own transport or able to use public transport to get to events

• Have photos taken as ‘Wolly’ with members of the public
