Ventnor Community Shed (VCS for short) is a not-for-profit community group based in Ventnor, at Boniface Fields, Leeson Road.
VCS is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Current membership is 46.
This is a group for people interested in creative and practical matters.
On-site facilities include a well-equipped workshop, access to hand tools for use on site and on loan, and instruction in using them, a tearoom and refreshments, quiet outside spaces, a woodland area and the opportunity for gardening and woodland maintenance. The group is run by its members as volunteers, and the treasurer is a member of the committee of six which meets formally three times a year and makes decisions about the running of VCS. Turnover is currently ~£6,000 a year.
VCS has been active at its current site at Boniface Fields since 2019. It offers its members space and practical advice for personal projects, and the opportunity to participate in joint projects which benefit the local community. The group is sociable, inclusive and informal.
We intend to apply for charitable status as a CIO, to protect and develop the group in the long term.

The role is suitable for a part-time volunteer, largely working from home, and will entail being a named user of Ventnor Community Shed’s bank account based at your home address, which for practical reasons should be within or near the PO38 postcode. The Treasurer is a member of the committee, which meets three times a year, and he or she will need to be aware of and interested in the day-to-day life of the Shed.
