RSPB Volunteer Fundraiser (pin badges) - Isle of Wight

Across the UK, the variety of species and habitats is outstanding - but they are disappearing at an alarming rate. 41% of the UK's wildlife is in decline.

We're determined to stop this happening, but we urgently need your help!

Community fundraising is crucial for the RSPB, as it allows us to continue the work we do to protect UK’s natural habitats and our unique wildlife.

Our “pin badge scheme” is one of our most successful fundraising initiatives, thanks to our almost 1,500 committed pin badge volunteers across the UK.

A volunteer can raise thousands of pounds a year to support our conservation projects just by managing a few pin badge boxes! In England we raise over £850K annually and aspire to fundraise over 1 million in the future each year. The more we fundraise in our communities, the more we can do to protect nature where we are! Can you help us?

Joining our team of pin badge volunteers means that you will be crucial in running the RSPB pin badge scheme in your local area. We will support you to place 1 to 5 pin badge boxes in your chosen venues.

Pin badge boxes can be placed at numerous types of sites including shops, garden centres, offices, tourist attractions, hotels, cafes and pubs. Once a pin badge box has been placed, to ensure we follow charity fundraising regulations, the donations from your boxes will need banking every 4-6 weeks, and the pin badges will need topping up. You will then report the income on our user-friendly online system and place an order for any additional stock you may need. Simple!

One great aspect of this volunteering role is its flexibility and it can be easily done at a time that suits you best.

We will provide you with all the necessary support, advice and resources needed, so you can get started and succeed in your role. You will never feel alone, as continuous friendly support will be provided throughout your volunteering activity. The RSPB pin badge volunteering is a rewarding activity that will allow you to develop a number of important transferable skills while being part of the largest wildlife conservation charity in the UK.

So, if you feel keen to help us save more nature just by devoting few hours per month, please join us today!

"As an RSPB pin badge volunteer for over 20 years with over 26 sites which I visited on a monthly or bi-weekly basis, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute! It’s a great, enjoyable, useful and rewarding voluntary job, which can be fitted in as you do your own shopping. All were happy to have an RSPB pin badge box on their counters". - Carole, RSPB fundraiser pin badge volunteer
