If the answer is yes and you live on the Isle of Wight and are over 18 years old, then why not become involved in Restorative Justice, working with Restorative Solutions CIC.
You will gain valuable knowledge and skills in relation to contacting victims and offenders, facilitating restorative justice interventions and partnership working with professionals within the Criminal Justice System.
It will be your role as a Volunteer Restorative Justice Practitioner to facilitate safe communication between those who have been harmed by crime (victims), and those that have caused harm (offenders) and also have the opportunity to facilitateAntisocial Behaviour and Violent Crime Awareness Courses.
Once trained, volunteers will be able to work with victims and offenders to facilitate face-to-face conferences or correspondence to help both the harmed and the harmer move on positively with their lives. You may also be involved in facilitating communication for those involved in neighbourhood conflict.
The role involves travel around the Isle of Wight to meet service users in their homes or community spaces, and also on occasions travel to Hampshire to attend volunteer meetings & training.
Skills
It is essential for this role that you:
· Are over 18 years old
· Can commit to 8 hours per month
· Will agree to complete an enhanced DBS
· Are willing to travel
· Can be flexible with your time
· Have good IT skills
It is desirable, but not essential that you:
· Can work with diverse service users
· Have the ability to listen and reflect
· Have excellent interpersonal skills
· Want to make a difference to people's lives
· Are non-judgemental and can remain impartial
