Minibus Escorts are vital in supporting regular activity groups and events at Millbrooke House, and other venues across the Island as our services and activities develop.
As the name suggests, the primary role of Minibus Escorts is to provide sighted guide support and a friendly manner to sight impaired Members, on minibus journeys between Members’ homes and various venues, including Millbrooke House, to enable participation in our events in activities.
Skills
All Minibus Escorts are required to participate in a half-day Community Sighted Guide training programme (delivered by the Team at Millbrooke House).
Thereafter we welcome as much or as little time as you have to give.
We invite Minibus Escorts to sign up to indicate their availability to support regular clubs and activities or support occasional one-off events.
As we steadily expand our services at venues across the Island, wherever possible, we are keen to encourage volunteers to support events in their locality and where there is a genuine interest in the nature / theme of the event.
A friendly, welcoming, empathetic personality is required.
Someone who would enjoy chatting with our sight impaired Members.
Willingness to undertake community sighted guide training and other relevant training required.
