To be a Leader with The Scouts you may need some but not all of the following skills. In areas where training and support is needed we endevour to provide that through The Scout Association’s adult training scheme or through other providers.

Practical skills

• Ability to plan systematically

• Appreciation of the importance of safety and procedures you use to ensure the safety of yourself and others

• Knowledge of first aid and any formal training in this field.

Working as a team:

• Working in a variety of teams e.g. Sections, Groups, County

• Supporting others in their role, knowing the value of teamwork

• Valuing others for their skills and abilities and supporting those with additional needs

Management skills:

• Leadership skills, knowing how to lead teams, supervise the group and individuals to get the job done

• Being able to manage large projects and often large groups of people.

• Being effective in meetings, taking minutes, putting your view across and representing others
