Welcome Hosts are key to the success in supporting regular activity groups and events at Millbrooke House, and potentially at other venues across the Island as our services and activities develop.
As the name suggests, the primary role of Welcome Hosts is to provide a warm welcome to sight impaired Members, assist with sighted guiding to these Members on arrival at the premises and throughout the event, provide companionship throughout the event and helping with the service of any refreshments provided.
Skills
All Welcome Hosts are required to participate in a half-day Community Sighted Guide training programme (delivered by the Team at Millbrooke House).
Thereafter we welcome as much or as little time as you have to give.
We will invite Welcome Hosts to sign up to indicate their availability to support regular clubs and activities or support occasional one-off events.
- A friendly, welcoming, empathetic personality is required.
- Someone who would enjoy chatting with our sight impaired Members.
- Willingness to undertake community sighted guide training and food hygiene awareness initial and refresher training required.
- Providing a welcome to sight impaired Members.
- Providing any sighted guide support required at the activity /event.
- Serving refreshments.
- Providing companionship as appropriate throughout the event.
