Chess Craft is an intergenerational chess project run by Independent Arts. The project gives people the opportunity to learn to play chess, improve their game or just offer participants a place and opposition to play against.
Chess Craft volunteers support the practitioners, perhaps offering help and support to those who are less confident playing, play against people who need a partner or just chat to people who are waiting for a spot to play.
Volunteers will also need to help to set up and pack up the workshop space. Part of the project includes a light lunch to the players.
Volunteers will be expected to make drinks, hand out sandwiches and snacks, clear away pots and wash up after the lunch is served.
No food preparation takes place but you may need to plate up food.
This role may also include some basic administration tasks such as counting participants and gathering feedback for evaluations.
