Isle of Wight Steam Railway - Heritage and Learning Team
Heritage & Learning is a growing department which looks after our museums and extensive archives.
We catalogue the many artefacts in our collection, maintain archives, and undertake research projects. Often the team prepare items for public display either in our museum gallery or in Train Story, and many of the historic artefacts you will be working with are extremely rare. Cataloguing these artefacts can involve IT skills and could be suitable for remote working.
We also offer roles as Education Guides, who work with schools and other groups to lead tours across the site and Welcome Guides who work at the main entrance and station yard. You will need similar skills to our warm and friendly Train Story Guides, and be able to share knowledge and information in an accessible way.
Skills
• An interest in preserving an important part of Britain's national heritage
• A team player with the ability to take responsibility
• Good communication skills an asset
• Friendly and helpful
Whether you like the idea of making new friends and just helping out or something more challenging, we can train you and find you something to do! Even helping to keep the facilities tidy would ease the workload! Our enthusiastic team includes people from a wide variety of backgrounds, men and women, young and not-so-young, so whatever your background you can be assured of a warm welcome.
