Bumps & Babies Volunteer

Being a new parent can be a challenge. Could you be a Bumps & Babies Home Visiting volunteer to help parents take the first steps in their parenting journey?

The role is varied as every family is different.

A Home-Start volunteer is a helping hand and a listening ear.

Our Bumps & Babies project aims to help new parents feel less alone and more confident.

Your time with the family could include:

• Talking and listening

• Helping parents prepare for their new arrival

• Support to attend appointments

• Practical help at home

• Helping parents to adjust to the challenges of parenthood

Skills

Non-judgemental with an understanding of the challenges of family life, kind and compassionate, great organisational skills, practical, enthusiastic.

Most volunteers have parenting or caring experience.

For this project some experience with very young babies would be an advantage. This could be your own babies or experience gained through work.

For everything else, full training is provided. Training is a combination of online and face to face sessions.

All volunteers receive regular support from a named co-ordinator.
