National Trust protects and cares for places so people and nature can thrive. We look after hundreds of houses and close to a million objects, along with vast areas of coastline, countryside and green spaces, for everyone’s benefit. With our staff, members, volunteers and supporters, we’re the biggest conservation charity in Europe. Everyone can get involved, everyone can make a difference.
Our 2nd hand bookshop volunteers manage the visitor experience within Mottistone Manor during our season which runs from March to November.
Far more than just selling books, this role is about welcoming visitors, caring for the manor and sharing the story of this special place (you do not need to be an expert, all information is provided).
We need help to source and collect, sort and display, and to identify books of special interest or value.
Skills
You will need to be able to provide a warm welcome, and to make visitors comfortable as they browse our bookshop. Storytellers or those with a passion for talking are most welcome!
You may be working alone or as part of a team, so people skills and initiative are essential.
You must understand the care that is necessary, and be able to help us share and inspire through the important work that we are doing to look after all of our special places on the Isle of Wight and beyond.
